Brewster big man announces for Michigan live on ESPNU.

The nation's second ranked overall prospect, Mitch McGary, had coaches from Duke, Florida, and Michigan glued to their televisions this afternoon as he announced his commitment live on ESPNU.

"It looks like I'm going to be a Wolverine," he said to the delight of Michigan coaches and fans.

McGary joins St. Mark's guard Nikolas Stauskas and Glenn Robinson Jr. to give head coach John Beilein a top five national class in 2012, and his best recruiting class since arriving at Ann Arbor.

McGary said the opportunity to help build a new tradition at Michigan appealed more to him than joining recent national champions at Duke or Florida.

"Both Duke and Florida have had established programs for years and have won titles recently," McGary said. "I didn't like that as much as I liked the idea of coming in and helping to turn Michigan's program around. That's more of a challenge for me. With lots of hard work I hope to make a huge footprint in the program. For right now, I'm just happy with my decision."

McGary reunites with several familiar faces at Michigan including former high school teammate Zack Novak and AAU teammate Max Bielfeldt.

After a strong debut season at Brewster last year, McGary saw his recruiting stock explode this spring into the summer as he proved himself to be not just uniquely talented, but also one of the fiercest competitors in the country.
