Warren heading home to North Carolina; McGary decision next on tap.
Brewster Academy senior forward T.J. Warren made a verbal commitment to North Carolina State on Wednesday, choosing the Wolfpack over Georgetown after having previously cut Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida.
The news was first reported by ESPN.com's Dave Telep.
"When I was growing up I went to a lot of games when Herb Sendek was the coach and Julius Hodge was there," Warren told Telep. "I've always been a State fan."
While N.C. State has hardly been the Wolfpack program of old in recent years, first year head coach Mark Gottfried has the program pointed in the right direction again as Warren makes the third highly rated North Carolina native to commit in the class of 2012.
Warren, the 23rd ranked player in the ESPNU 100, joins shooting guard Rodney Purvis, ranked 16th in the ESPNU 100, and another top 100 guard Tyler Lewis to give N.C. State arguably the best incoming backcourt in all of college basketball.
Warren is a big and powerful scoring forward with a versatile offensive game. He puts points on the board in a variety of different ways and is a solid candidate for the McDonald's All-American game heading into his senior year at Brewster Academy.
Brewster Academy will continue to hold the focus of the recruiting world on Thursday as the nation's second ranked prospect Mitch McGary, is scheduled to make his college decision live on ESPNU on Thursday.
